- Years back an acquaintance moved to a different state and left behind this book – ‘A Games of Thrones’. The first in A Song of Fire and Ice book series.
- I went through the pages. With the small prints and encyclopedia-level thickness, I managed to reach the 10th page. Max.
- I tried picking it up over the years but there seems to be an invisible wall pass the 10th page. The book spent most of the time collecting dust in the garage.
- That is, until the morning of 14th September 2026 when I found myself finishing the second book in the series, ‘A Clash of Kings’. (AGOT was completed about 2 months back).
- You may call it cheating, but I found a way to finish thick, lengthy books in a more enjoyable way.

6. I change my method from “Reading” to “Listening”.
7. Using Audible, I managed to find the minutes here and there to finish these 2 books.
8. The running time was AGOT (33h 45m) and ACOK (37h 12m).
9. It does look a lot initially, but if your daily work commute is 30m, you can easily do 60 minutes per day. Add into it the other activities you do by yourself ie driving, gym.
10. Moving on to my next book – The Way of Kings (45h 29m). This is going to be fun, hopefully. 😀
Until then, stay hungry & keep listening.
