• Launched Facebook this morning on my PC and saw a notification of a friend’s birthday.
• I messaged him ‘Happy Birthday’ and got a quick response.
• Quite surprised by it; he usually takes a while to reply. Turns out he is in a new job, most ly working from home and has more time in his hands I assume.
• After a few lines back and forth, I asked him if he has 60 seconds to spare. He said yes. It turned into 20 minutes – yikes!
• It is still 60 seconds, just a multiplication of 20, innit? 😀
• With the advent of free instant messaging apps like Whatsapp and Telegram, its very easy to get in contact with your loved ones.
• Personally I prefer the “human touch” whenever possible.
• There’s much more you can learn when you listen to an actual human’s voice.
• Smile while you are on the phone, and the other party could actually “see you smiling”.
• I’ve tried it a few times while talking to an irate client – I think it does help to lower the tension.
