The best online gaming experience I ever had – Diablo IV

  • I haven’t played much video games in the recent years – too time consuming.
  • On the other hand, I don’t mind binge watching some good tv series. Timing isn’t an issue here; its just priority innit?
  • The video games my kids play nowadays are online, where you get to pit or cooperate with other players globally. Fortnite, Minecraft and recently Marvel Rivals.
  • Being an introvert, I prefer to just play standalone video games – no interaction with other humans necessary.
  • But a few summers ago, I had one of the most memorable experience in playing Diablo IV.
“Stay awhile and listen”
  • I hopped on to the server and partnered with this chap which if I recalled correctly, is from Darwin, Australia.
  • We started chatting online and I saw that his level was way above me.
  • Instead of leaving me to my own devices (I had that experience before), it turned out to be a mentoring session. He guided me on things to do – how to level up, what weapons to choose, how to combine special gems to build a special item etc. Pretty much a living, walking cheat code.
  • I recalled it was in summer because I after I decided it was enough (like 4 hours), we said goodbye, I logged out and realised that my lower body was sweating like I just ran a 10km. AC wasn’t working properly or I was just cheap and not turning it on, cannot remember which.
  • To the kind stranger, I wish your ice cream never melts, you never stepped on a Lego piece and you never run out of Life/Manna in your future Diablo quests.

Until then, stay hungry, stay slaying monsters.
